KaLynn Yazzie is a Diné asdzáán. She is from a small community called Sunnyslope in North Phoenix, Arizona. She is a recent ASU alumna who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Writing, Rhetorics, and Literacy in Fall of 2020. KaLynn is an aspiring writer who conducts research on Sexual Assault cases and traumas within the Native American community, shining a light on Native Narratives that are shun to any open conversation related to this topic. Through her writing she hopes to create a space for mental health awareness, allowing readers to understand that they are validated. She is currently working on her first children’s book about ribbon skirts and the relationship between an aunt and a niece who are making ribbon skirts for the first time.
